INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO USE THE TEACHING ANIMATION BELOW

There is a slight pause where the tune starts. However, if you do start anywhere else, fine, you will soon recognise where you have got to, as the tune loops around and starts again.

The animation takes place on a diagram of a standard 10-hole diatonic and will work for any 10-hole standard tuned "Blues Harp".

All you have to do is play on the hole where the arrows appear. They are numbered, as they are on your harmonica, but you will be actually watching the hole to use as well as noting which numbered hole you are using..

As in most harmonica teaching systems, an upward arrow indicates you should blow on that numbered hole, a down arrow that you should draw ("suck!"). To make it even easier to read though, we have made the up (blow) arrows red, the down (draw) ones are yellow.

N.B. To make it even easier to follow, I have also divided up the tune into short sections in separate animations, below the main diagram, so you can try each bit separately.

These animations are set even slower than the main one, so are even easier to work with.

You may like to write to us if you would like to contribute to this page yourself and we will send you full instructions and building blocks. (You will need a gif animator style programme).

You can also proceed to our downloading page and copy the individual pictures yourself, by rightclicking on your browser.

Retain the names given for each image so that you will be able to write your tunes (even as non-harp-players) easily and read the description of each image.

You will need to re-convert the images back to gif format to incorporate them in your own animation, and please send us a copy for possible inclusion in our pages.
